Areas We Target

  • Lisps

Don’t worry lisps are more common than you think. There are 3 different types of Lisps; Frontal/Interdental, Lateral, and Dental. During an evaluation we can determine the type and create a customized treatment plan for your child.

  • Articulation and Phonology

Helping children who have difficulty producing specific speech sounds correctly. Some examples may include /r/ (e.g. “wabbit” for “rabbit), /th/ (e.g. “wif” for “with”), and /l/ (e.g. “yove” for “love”). Evaluation and treatment is focused on identifying and targeting specific sound errors and training proper placement of tongue, teeth, and lips to produce the sound correctly.

  • Language Disorders

Language disorders may affect expressive language, receptive language or both. Children may require support with skills such as correct grammar, storytelling, following directions, comprehension, and more.

  • Fluency Disorders

Treatment of stuttering and other disruptions in the flow of speech. This may include repeating words/sounds/phrases (e.g. “b-b-b-b-ball”), tension in the face/head/throat, restriction of airflow when speaking, or prolonging a sound (e.g. “ssssss-silly”)

  • Apraxia

Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) affects the pathway from the brain to the mouth to control the mouth for producing speech sounds. Children with CAS are typically very difficult to understand and may become frustrated with communication. Treatment focuses on repetition and functional phrases.
