HOW OFTEN TO PRACTICE ARTICULATION STRATEGIES WITH YOUR CHILD

So your child is having challenges with articulation; what now? When working with an SLP to help train their sounds, carrying over practice at home can help your child make progress more quickly. Rather than practicing with your child for long amounts of time 1-2 times per week (i.e. 15 minutes or more), it is more beneficial to practice just 5 minutes per day. You can do this while in the car, making meals, getting ready for bed, or any other routine that you do daily. Practicing 5 minutes per day can help your child master the sound they are working on (e.g. /r,s,th/, etc.) much more quickly than therapy alone.
